Spring Break 2009

The kids were out of school all week and I was off work, so we have had a fun week!! Several weeks ago I decided that this would be the week that we officially potty trained Emily. It went better than I could have imagined. After one accident at Chick-Fil-A and another small one at home, we are completely (I hope) potty trained!! She is even sleeping in panties--no more diapers for us ( at least until the end of August!!).

Richard and I went to the Chris Tomlin concert on Thursday night. It was awesome!! We love all of his music, but there is something so neat about going to a concert like his. It's like one big worship service. It. Was. Amazing. We also got to go out to BoneFish for dinner before the concert. We rarely get to go anywhere just the 2 of us, so it was a really great night with no kids!

On Friday the whole family went to Memphis. We went to the zoo as soon as we got there (we were not sure what the weather was going to do), since it was nice we thought we better go enjoy the day. We stayed at the zoo for about 5 hours!! The kids really enjoyed seeing all the animals and the weather ended-up being perfect!! There were not many people there, so we had the best zoo day ever! We even got to see a few panda bears!

We bought season passes to the zoo so we will definitely be going back. It was much nicer than the Little Rock Zoo and the drive to Memphis really isn't that bad. It makes for a nice weekend getaway for the family.

Shortly after arriving at the zoo, I told Richard that being pregnant and being at the zoo was not the best combination (it was REALLY stinky!!). Apparently Emily agreed with me. This is how she looked almost the whole day.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn right next to the Peabody. It was a great location. We were able to walk around downtown and we even rode on a Trolley. The hotel had an indoor pool, so Richard and the kids went swimming too! The kids had a great time (they both said going to the inside pool was their favorite part). On Saturday we had one last treat for Cooper. Richard had called the Mini Cooper dealership and set up a test drive time for he and Cooper. It was so much fun!! The salesman, Tom, totally went out of his way to make the day special for Cooper. Not only did Cooper and daddy get to drive around in a mini cooper, but he also got a goody bag full of several mini cooper toy cars, a movie, a poster, stickers, a license plate, and several more things. It was awesome!! Cooper really felt like he was a superstar!!

All in all we had a great week! It's fun to think that these are things that they will remember for the rest of their lives. We are looking for to making even more fun memories in the future!! Hope you all had a fun spring break too!!

Big News

Today has been a fun day. Richard was not able to be at the appointment, so one of my best friends (Amie) was nice enough to go with me. It was great having her there with me, but I told her not to watch when they weighed me (I have already gained SO much weight and of course Amie is about the size of my little finger!!). Richard did not want me to tell him over the phone (he had to be in Texarkana at 8:00 this morning) so I had to wait until he got home tonight to tell him and the kids.

To make it more fun for the kids, I planned a scavenger hunt throughout the house. Richard and the kids went all over the house finding clues and the last clue led them to a box full of cookies. The clue said something about open the box and what do you see--is it pink or is it blue?? Here is what they found:

That's right....they are PINK!!!! We are having a girl!!! We were a little shocked at first (we both really thought it was going to be a boy) but we are very excited to have another sweet girl and for Emily to get to have a sister! Now all we have to do is come up with a name!

Please continue to pray for a healthy baby.

Long Time, No Post

So....it has been a while since I have made a post. We have been SO busy. Our life has pretty much been full of just ordinary stuff so I haven't really had anything that exciting to post about. I am finally feeling better and I am so thankful to not be throwing-up anymore!! We find out (hopefully) in 4 days if we are having a boy or a girl. I will make a post on Thursday as soon as a can!!

The most exciting thing that we've had going on is that we took a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico!! The trip was provided by Richard's company for the top 5 reps in the company. It was absolutely FABULOUS! We stayed at a resort called the Esperanza--the room we stayed in cost almost $1000 a night. It was so nice that I can't even put it into words. I spent most of my time by the pool, looking out at the ocean and seeing whales jumping out of the water. It was so nice to do nothing but relax and be pampered. While at the pool, women would give you a foot or shoulder massage and everyone waited on you hand-and-foot!! It was the perfect getaway. I told Richard that he was going to have to win this award every year.

This was the view from our room:

We had such a great time, that we really did not want to come home. We had a friend of ours (Rachel) babysit part of the time and my mom keep the kids the rest of the time. We got off of the plane in Little Rock at about 11:15 pm on Tuesday night. Richard had a message on his phone from my mom that Cooper had been throwing-up since 7:00pm. NOT REALLY WHAT WE WANTED TO COME HOME TO!! My kids have never had the stomach bug, so this was all new to us. Poor Cooper did not feel good at all, but he really did good to make it to the bathroom when he got sick. (He must have been paying attention for the last 8 weeks while I have been sick). I spent the entire day Wednesday doing about 8 loads of laundry and getting our house back to normal. Thank goodness my mom was able to stay longer and continue to take care of Cooper. Late Wednesday night, we realized that Cooper had not gone to the bathroom all day. Of course we were concerned about dehydration. After talking to a nurse from his doctor's office, she recommended that I take him to the ER for IV fluids. After a lot of tears from Cooper, I was finally able to get him to go tee-tee. I was so thankful that we did not have to go to the ER--especially since I had to work the next day and Richard was out-of-town.

We are finally totally back to normal at our house. Cooper was completely better by Thursday afternoon. I know my mom was glad to get to go back home--Thanks mom for helping out so much!! Richard had his 37th birthday yesterday, but due to all that has been going on the last week we did not do too much to celebrate. The kids were very concerned that Daddy did not have a birthday cake, so I guess we will have to make one sometime this week.

Remember to check back on Thursday for the latest update on our "turtle bug".
